About

Bamboo Reef was founded by Al Giddings in 1961. Sal Zammitti owned the shops from 1972 to 2016. Mark and Brian Stanley own them now.

Shop policies

Deposits and refunds

A booking is not a guarantee of certification. Once a class, tour, or trip has started, it is not refundable. Deposits are not available for every class.

Makeup sessions

Makeup rates: classroom or Zoom $60 per hour, pool $80 per hour. Monterey pool fees are extra. Scuba ocean rejoin is $150 per day and private scuba is $150 per dive. Freedive rejoin is $75 per day and private freedive is $150 per dive.

Trip cancellations

Channel Islands trips need 60 days' notice. International trips need 90 days' notice. Shorter notice forfeits payment. Boat-dive cancellations inside 72 hours are a 50% fee.
